South Florida Black Mama’s Bail Out

When mothers languish in jail, our families and communities suffer. We are bailing out Black mamas because they are the glue that holds families together and you can't social distance in a cage.

What is #FreeBlackMamas?

#FreeBlackMamas is an annual campaign by National Bail Out to raise awareness about the human and financial costs of money bail and emphasize its impact on Black mothers and caregivers. In light of the COVID-19 crisis, we are joining organizations to #FreeBlackMamas in South Florida because you can’t social distance in a cage.

Why Black Mamas?

The South Florida Black Mama’s Bail Out is a Black-led and Black-centered collective of grassroots organizers, activists, and formerly incarcerated women building a community-based movement to support our folks and end systems of pretrial detention and ultimately mass incarceration. When mothers languish in jail, our families and communities suffer. This Mother’s Day we are bailing out Black mamas because they are the glue that holds families together.
