Thanks again for signing for up for Saturday’s Serious Games. The event is taking place at Chapman Conference Center located on the Second Floor of Building 3 of Miami-Dade College Wolfson Campus. (226 NE 5TH St, Bldg 3, Miami, FL 33132).

We have a full and engaging agenda. New Florida Majority Executive Director Andrea Mercado. We’ll then split up by neighborhoods, and participants will carry out the disaster simulations and develop their response plans, help identify gaps and come up with solutions. After lunch, we’ll assemble to identify potential lessons that we can pass along to community residents and other local leaders. We’ll end the day at 5 p.m., with presentations to invited policymakers and neighborhood teams will be able to decide where to spend small grants of $5,000 – $10,000.

Metered street parking is available around the college, with a public parking garage located at 500 NE 2nd Avenue. Childcare and transportation are available — if you have not marked it previously, please be sure to get in contact with us by the end of the day on Friday.

We’re excited to have you join us for this day-long event that will help shape neighborhood-based disaster problem-solving, capacity-building, risk prevention, and response. By coming together, we can ensure that every community has a chance to not just survive the future storms, but walk away stronger.

See you in the morning!

Sincerely,

Nancy Metayer
