FNM’s Executive Director, Gihan Perera was recently quoted in the Truthout Op-Ed “Charging Through the Archway of History: Immigrants and African-Americans Unite to Transform the Face of Labor and the Power of Community” on February 16th.

According to Gihan Perera, “In Homestead, undocumented workers who couldn’t even vote pitched in with a mariachi band and barbecue,” to encourage thousands of African-Americans, Latinos, and progressive whites to stay in line and vote. Black and brown power made the difference in Florida.
