New Florida Majority Endorses Khurrum Wahid for City of Coral Springs Commission Seat 2

If elected, Wahid has committed to prioritize upgrading local parks to continue to provide safe and welcoming community spaces for children and families, fostering transparency in government, and cultivating economic development in Coral Springs. He also supports re-enfranchisement for returning citizens, ending mass incarceration, and immigrant rights, which are among NewFM’s core values.

BROWARD COUNTY, FLA — New Florida Majority (NewFM), a C4 racial justice organization dedicated to expanding democracy and restoring justice, enthusiastically announced on Wednesday, May 8th, their support of Khurrum Wahid for City of Coral Springs Commission Seat 2.

The NewFM board unanimously ratified the recommendation of the organization’s Ad Hoc Committee for Political Endorsements, who pushed for the endorsement after reviewing Wahid’s candidate survey last week.

The Ad Hoc Committee understood that leaders elected in local elections have a tremendous influence on our day to day lives. Local elected leaders oversee everything from police, to parks, to affordable housing and everything in between.

“Wahid has lived a life dedicated to the service of others,” said Dwight Bullard, New Florida Majority’s Political Director. “He has been consistent in his commitment to fight bigotry whether it be internationally, nationally or right here in our own backyard. He continues to fight for inclusivity and tolerance. The New Florida Majority is proud to endorse him for Coral Springs City Commission.”

In just the last few years, our supporters have helped us stand up to the political establishment and reclaim our democracy: expanding voter registration in the wake of Hurricane Matthew, raising wages for workers in Miami, registering tens of thousands of new voters in black and brown communities, and shifting the balance of power in the Sunshine State for good.
